I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have a practice that caters to kids ages 0-12 in Woodland Hills. I have specialized training in Domestic Violence, Grief, Prepare Enrich, Child Custody Evaluations, TRM 2 Level trained and offer Faith Based counseling services for those who choose that route. I work primarily with kids who are struggling with adjustment issues, Anxiety (separation, fears), Divorce, Grief.
Majority of my training was spent learning how to meet the unique developmental and therapeutic needs of children. I believe each child comes in layers and at the core of the heart is where the hurt/ pain struggle lies. While working with children I provide a nurturing environment for them to feel safe and heard. My job is to evaluate and gain an understanding of where the problem lies and come up with creative ways to explore options that they may feel comfortable trying out. I never push a child, but rather work at their own pace. When/ If they are ready, we explore what might work best for their situation. Think of a child that begins to take their first steps, it is a process. When they have conquered that step, they feel empowered and feel like they can tackle the next obstacle. I often use role play, play therapy, art therapy, mind-fulness, and exploring the child’s thought process.
“Beneath every behavior there is a feeling. And Beneath each feeling is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause not the symptom” - Ashleigh Warner
